Hello All!

I'm Charlie from California - some people call me Charles - most call me Charlie.

I enjoy Toastmasters and teach public speaking as a volunteer at Reality Changers, a nonprofit
in San Diego.

We help students become the first generation in their family to go to college.  I've been tutoring
there over 5 years during the school year.

My wife and I have one son and we have a house in San Marcos, CA, which is north of San Diego.

One dog, one cat and a pool.

One of my accomplishments is winning a seat in the World Series of Poker a few years ago.

Ultimately I want to help people do what they are passionate about.

Some of that includes inspiring people.

Fran Cannon is a mentor of mine in the personal development area and he's taught me some
life-changing stuff.

I've recently been studying with a couple of online gurus and I'm pretty impressed with what
they've accomplished and what they are teaching.

I think I'm coming to the conclusion that although some things are free, if you invest a little
money it can save you time.  You just need to be careful where you invest that money.

I've also seen too many people treat their business like a job.

By that I mean that they spend when they should reinvest.

If you owned an antique store and sold a bunch of antiques you wouldn't just take the money
and go on vacation.

You might take NONE of it home or you might only take a tiny fraction and you would
reinvest the rest in inventory so you had more stuff to sell.

Only when the store began to generate PLENTY of cash flow would you give yourself an
income to take home.

That's just some of my two cents on my first day.

I'm also working on a book about stories of redemption as well as two science fiction books.

You are welcome to check out my non-commercial (currently!) writing blog below my signature.

I've been disciplined enough to reach 100 posts so far this year.

Also, you might like a book titled "How" which you can find for FREE on Facebook.  Just search How and Dov Seidman's Facebook site will come up and you fill in your information and like the page.  I did and about 6 weeks later it arrived in the mail.  I just assumed that it would be an ebook and had forgotten about it.

Nice surprise!

Have an awesome day!

Take care,

Charlie Hicks-Moore

Hi!

It wasn't my intention to violate any rules.  I guess it's been a decade or more since I posted on one of these things and I didn't quite realize.  So - the mention of the book "How" was ok, but I'm not allowed to include links of any kind or ?

Good luck on the forum, BigMan.

The rules are here, and you can include a link after 20 postings in your signature. That is to stop spammers, of which there are very many on the internet.

Look forward to chatting with you.

Thanks for the help, Robert!

I much prefer that to the "you should have known" rule, which in my opinion, will keep many legitimate people from forums.  So many people that I know in my "offline" life would have absolutely no clue about such things and be scared off or simply find it rude or quasi-totalitarian.

I feel that it's a customer service type of issue, but I digress...

Just seeing if I understand here:

I can mention that I have a blog called Authors, Offers and Others and people can Google it if they want, but I can't use a URL until after 20 posts.

By the way...if someone is writing a book they can get a free ebook - So You Want To Write - by Googling it.

This stuff is allowed?

One more thing, Robert.

Is that animated guy at the top you?

It's pretty good.  (And that's the MALE pretty good and you know what that means...)

Thanks, Katie!  We're the Golden State and we're definitely the land of sunshine. There was a song - It Never Rains In California - nearly 40 years ago.

Florida is called the Sunshine State - I have no idea how they beat us with that one.

I've always wanted to go to the UK!

When I was in Catholic grade school my good friend Timothy had parents who were from England.  His mom had a tea in the early 1970s and the Prince Charles attended.

I didn't know any better and just assumed that was because she was English - as if Prince Charles attended a lot of teas in the USA with English ladies who happened to live there. :-)

Welcom to the forum Charlie.

I think I've also found something else about you from reading a few of your other posts.  You appear to be a Bugs Bunny fan.

I am!  I'm also a video fan.  I found a cool free (at the level I'm using it) site and I've made 3 videos in the last 18 hours. 20 Mins each! You don't have to visit the URL I posted in the video - just think about whether you could make a video like that that fast! http://animoto.com/p...7p1AvC98ili8oyQ
